I Landed a Job in a Long-Term Care Home, One of My Dream Workplaces

January 27th, 2021

I’m Princess Riza Galang

I graduated from the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.

Coming to Canada as a newcomer is not as easy as everyone thinks. You don’t know if you’ll have the same career that you left back home. I worked different jobs unrelated to my degree in the Philippines and had a hard time going back to my career and lost hope. That’s why I chose to enroll here at triOS College; to go back to my old career. Fast forward, when the pandemic came, I just gave birth and was ready to continue my placement. Thankfully, Antonio, my Employment Specialist, was very supportive. He made sure that I was always updated given the situation that everything was virtual and electronic. He kept me posted related to job training, seminars, and job openings.

I managed to successfully finish my internship with ease and good feedback from my supervisors despite the COVID-19 pandemic and most especially, the fact that I also had to take care of a newborn. It was hard and challenging but without the help of everyone at triOS, Leeshel, Larissa, Melissa, Arnab, Antonio, and all of my mentors, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve my main goals: to graduate with distinction and to go back to my career.

And now, through the assistance of my Employment Specialist, I landed a job in a long-term care home, one of my dream workplaces.

Thank you so much, triOS College! Please continue helping everyone achieve their dreams.
